Excited Inside

This piece is a bit of an experiment for me. It uses two relatively simple themes with vastly different meter to express how I am sometimes calm on the outside and not nearly so calm on the inside. To be honest, I’m not sure if the piece is successful or not. What do you think?

Sometimes my calm facade only barely contains a very excited inside.

Having read your program note I have more of an insight into what you were trying to communicate, and I think you really did it quite well. The “jittery conflict” inside certainly shouldn’t be melodious and soothing!

    Tim,

That’s a great piece! At about 2:47 you make your transition into excitement… and I began thinking to myself… use higher notes to convey the excitement… then no sooner did I think it then you began messing with intervals making your way up the keyboard! very cool cuz’! very fun to listen to.

Well that’s certainly two reviews that are better than what I would have given the piece! Thanks for the feedback.
