It’s the middle of winter. Snow has fallen, chased by ice and then rain. The sun hasn’t shown for weeks on the prairie, and now there is water everywhere. But it does not make much sound as it moves across the countryside, cleansing the very soul of the prairie of all the accumulation of the past year. It does that for me as well. This season of dormant life, this gray and dreary world where the sounds of joy and happiness, children playing in the park, birds singing themselves to sleep at dusk, fireflies gently lighting the yard with flecks of golden heavenlight, are all asleep, as the rain falls and makes the land ready to receive its gladness once again… a silent waterfall.

Sometimes the world goes into a soft slow-motion. The sounds that clutter our everyday fade into the background, and cleansing raindrops glide slowly past our eyes, like waterfall that makes no sound.Download
